From Donna’s Desk

It wasn’t a bad day.
It was a typical day.
Which, for anyone managing staff, directives, and the fragile thread holding it all together, means:
-
I followed policy as best I could
-
I advocated for wellness as best I could
-
I collaborated across silos while cringing at the lingo
…and still somehow ended the day explaining myself to someone holding a laminated copy of the employee handbook and a scented candle.
So I did what many of us do:
I called my best friend.
We found a table by the water.
And I vented in incomplete sentences while she quietly handed me fries.
It helped.
So I want to hear from you:
-
What’s your version of a “normal” day that would emotionally floor someone outside your department (or industry)?
-
Who’s your person - the one who doesn’t need a glossary to understand what you mean when you say “performance metrics recalibration”?
-
And how do you wind down when the system you’re upholding forgets you’re human?
Drop a comment.
Tell me your ritual, your lifeline, or your go-to escape.
Because if we’re going to keep holding the line, we’ve got to know where to exhale.
