Milo clicked “quit.”
The system asked if he was sure.
For Milo, this was not technical.
Milo wants to be helpful the way some people want coffee: immediately, repeatedly, and with both hands. His deepest workplace goal is to be needed, ideally with clear instructions and maybe a small badge.
So when the screen asked if he wanted to leave, Milo heard, “Are you abandoning us in our moment of need?”
He could stay.
If needed.
Which is sweet. And dangerous. And how you end up with an intern comforting a spreadsheet at 6:43 p.m.
Some people need encouragement to contribute.
Milo needs permission to stop.
So I’m curious:
