From Donna's Desk:
Competence has a downside.
Once people believe you can untangle things, they start handing you knots they made somewhere else.
Not because it is your job. Not because you have capacity.
Because you said one sensible sentence near the wrong doorway.
That is how half-formed ideas become assignments.
I believe in helping across departments. I also believe a department head should occasionally be allowed to remain in her department. Especially when the original problem still needs attention, not branding.
So I’m curious:
What project found you simply because you looked capable?
Have you ever been volunteered by someone else’s confidence?
I’ll be here, trying not to become a stakeholder by proximity.

The Donna Lake Comic Strip follows a quietly fierce department head trying to lead with dignity, despite corporate curveballs, chaos-prone staff, and a workplace that keeps getting weirder.
It’s a sharp, heartfelt office comedy with a surreal streak and a deep respect for the ones who hold it all together.
