Panel 1

Dialogue (Claire): “SO, WHAT WAS THE FINAL STRAW BEFORE YOU SOLD THRIVE?”
Action/setting: Claire (curly blonde, green top) and Donna Lake (purple glasses, purple outfit) sit at a small round patio table with a dark blue, ocean-like background behind them. Each has a glass of wine.

Panel 2

Dialogue (Donna Lake): “PARKER GOT THE COFFEE SPONSORED BY POP’S PIZZA”
Action/setting: Same table setup. Donna holds her wine as she answers. Off to the right, on a chair, sits a pale green flame-like trophy labeled “Thrive.”

Panel 3

Dialogue (Claire): “THAT DOESN’T SEEM SO BAD”
Action/setting: Claire leans slightly toward Donna, looking unconvinced-but-curious. Donna looks at her, still holding her drink.

Panel 4

Dialogue (Donna Lake): “IT TASTED LIKE GARLIC!”
Action/setting: Donna gestures, looking horrified as she explains. Claire’s eyebrows raise and her mouth makes a slight gagging expression.

Final Straw

Donna Lake Headshot

From Donna's Desk:

Claire asked what the final straw was. Not as a stakeholder. As my best friend, the one person who will skip the corporate narrative and go straight to the human one.

I can absorb a lot. I can translate nonsense. I can survive an initiative. But you do not take the last reliable comfort in the building and make it... wrong.

And I’m grateful I have one person who can look at all the corporate posturing and say, gently, “Okay. But what actually happened to you?”

I hope you have a Claire.

Donna
